CAPACITY BUILDING AND AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT: AKK HOUSE SET TO OPEN NEXT YEAR. DR ADEWALE KOLAPO KAREEM SPEAKS ABOUT GOVERNANCE, RIGHT THINKING, HONESTY AND COURAGE

"We definitely can do a lot for our people – with the right thinking, honesty, commitment, and courage, - and we will, we definitely will!" Dr Adewale Kolapo Kareem

Dr Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK) is a gubernatorial Aspirant in Oyo State in 2027.

Governance can be delicate, it can be overwhelming, and it can be an art of balancing competing interests, elevating the greater good above individual whims. It demands intentionality, courage, and commitment to the well-being of the governed. Yet, this pursuit is often shrouded in many complexities, obscured by the veil of politics, ulterior motives and bureaucracy. But we can stripp away the noises and distractions, we can distill governance to its essence, - serving the people.

In more actual essence, governance is not an huge puzzle, rather, a human endeavour that requires empathy, wisdom, and resolve. It's about creating an environment where the people can blossom, where dreams can be birthed, and have their capacities unleashed. This aftermath or vision of governance is not really an utopian fantasy, but a reality within our grasp.

In an ideal world, every citizen would enjoy economic independence, free from the threatening shackles of financial worry. While this may be sometimes an unattainable aspiration, a decent level of financial comfort is definitely within our reach. We can cultivate a business-friendly environment that empowers entrepreneurs, stimulate innovation, and create opportunities for growth. I believe this is the foundation upon which prosperity is built.

In pursuit of this vision, I'm proud to announce the commissioning of AKK House for next year, a building to be identified for many progressive initiatives, among which is financial comfort and relief for Oyo State indigenes. This structure will serve as a rallying point, where individuals can access interest-free loans to boost their businesses and thrive despite economic challenges. It is designed to be place for economic empowerment for everyone.

Some may argue that loan initiatives have been tried before, that it is a common trick to gather people's support, that is very true, - but ours differs in its inclusive approach. We're engaging all stakeholders – community leaders, Baales, religious figures, and local champions – to ensure accountability, transparency, and seriousness among loan recipients. This collaborative design will track usage, ensure repayment, and encourage a sense of collective ownership that it's actually is.

It's self-evident that people yearn to thrive, to live, and to breathe economic independence. This initiative addresses the very heartbeat of our humanity. Economic power, prosperity, and independence are the core of development. If we tackle these fundamental needs, we're not merely empowering individuals, but we're also elevating our collective will and capacity.

AKK House will succeed because it's built on a foundation of integrity, transparency, and accountability. This initiative will serve all Oyo State indigenes, without bias or favour. And it's just the beginning. If we can do this out of personal drive and thirst to relieve the people of worry, imagine what we can achieve with the resources and authority of governance. We definitely can do a lot for our people – with the right thinking, honesty, commitment, and courage, - and we will, we definitely will!

ONIDO: THE MANY ATROCITIES OF MURITALA GBOLAGADE BABALOLA

ONIDO: THE MANY ATROCITIES OF MURITALA GBOLAGADE BABALOLA Muritala Gbolagade first came to Ido as a worker in the farm of a prominent Ibadan Chief located in Ido local government. He was fortunate to have made money while working for the Chief. How he made so much money from his employer is debatable and shrouded in mystery. After leaving the farm he showed interest in investing in Ido. He built a house in Ilaju where he resides till date. Always with an eye for investors to help develop Ido, the then Onido, Benjamin Ishola Orobiyi II gave Gbolagade a chieftaincy title of Ashipa of Ido. Little did the Orobiyi know that he was giving honour to a criminal. Gbolagade, through bribery and subterfuge plotted to get to the throne of his benefactor. His intentions were not noble. His plan was to use the position to enhance his various nefarious activities. Before he was suspended on 2 nd February 2024, he was noted for many criminal activities, chief among which were: ...

ONIDO: DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS

ONIDO:   DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS Ido was founded by Agura, who was in the group that left Ile Ife with Oranmiyan to establish Old Oyo. On getting to the location in the forest, after consulting his Ifa priest he named the place Ido. Ido is today the headquarters of Ido Local Government. Ido is quite developed and still developing. Ido houses many government facilities and non-governmental development projects. New businesses, housing estates, medical facilities and schools dot the town. This has been made possible by contributions and sacrifices of past monarchs and royal families in Ido. When the Ibadan West District Council was established 5 th August 1961, with Ido as the headquarters the reigning Onido, Pa Yesufu Ladapo Orobiyi gave his farm land to the council freely. This selfless act   made it possible for the new council to settle down in Ido. The Local Government today stands on the Orobiyi Family land. Pa Lawani Dare O...
