Leading with Conviction, Without Compromise  ~ Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK 2027)  During the week, I penned an opinion on 'The Question of Quality Leadership', and it thrills me to find out that a number of people agree with the views I expressed. Definitely, Nigeria's leadership terrain has been marred by a paradox of promise and disappointment. Despite some few genuine efforts to address citizens' concerns, the country's leadership style has consistently fallen short of its potential. There seems to be a disconnect between intention and outcome, and this raises fundamental questions about the essence of leadership, - what does it mean to lead? Who should actually lead? And what qualities define a quintessential leader?  Effective leadership speaks of mutual benefits, a room where leaders, the governed, and the entity being governed all thrive. Leaders inspire, empower, and uplift their followers, they also support growth and progress. The entity being governed...

DEMOCRACY, POLITICS, MORALS AND GOVERNANCE

The importance of morals in Democracy, politics and governance is a topic that has been examined and dissected by many schools of thought. In a recent treatise by Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK) a Gubernatorial Aspirant for the governorship of Oyo in 2027, he examined the importance of Morals in Democracy, Politics, and governance. Democracy is obviously the pillar for a free and just society, it is the foundation upon which our present Nigerian environment is built. It is also the cornerstone of our collective existence, that has allowed us to participate, to have a voice, and to shape our destiny. Hannah Arendt, a German-American philosopher and political theorist, opinionated in her book, "On Revolution" that, "Democracy, in the sense of the people's power, is not a form of government, but a condition, a way of life, which rests on citizens' participation." Democracy is the manifestation of this inherent human desire for community, for governance, and fo...
