WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY: AKK VOWS TO UPHOLD CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s global day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Child rights are human rights. They are non-negotiable and universal. But in too many places today children’s rights are being misunderstood, disregarded or even denied and attacked.

World Children's Day is marked by UNICEF worldwide on November 20 each year.

As the world marks World Children's Day today, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Nigeria, joins the global community in celebrating the rights and well-being of children.

AKK in a statement made available to news men on Wednesday,  reaffirms his commitment to upholding the fundamental rights of every child, ensuring they receive the necessary support for normal development, both materially and spiritually.

According to Dr. Kareem, Key Rights of Every Child include;

Right to Basic Needs: Every child deserves access to food, healthcare, and education.
Right to Protection: Children must be shielded from exploitation, abuse, and harm.
Right to Development: Children should be equipped to earn a livelihood and reach their full potential.
Right to Social Responsibility: Children should be taught to utilize their talents for the betterment of society.

Dr. Kareem assures that, as governor, he will prioritize these rights, ensuring every child in Oyo State has the opportunity to thrive. His vision includes providing quality education, healthcare, and protection from exploitation.

"A child's smile is the beacon of hope for a brighter future," Dr. Kareem says. "As leaders, we must support our children with unwavering strength, empowering them to become the better Nigerian we all desire."

As we celebrate World Children's Day, let us join Dr. Kareem in reaffirming our commitment to protecting and promoting children's rights. Together, we can build a brighter future where every child can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Always with an eye for investors to help develop Ido, the then Onido, Benjamin Ishola Orobiyi II gave Gbolagade a chieftaincy title of Ashipa of Ido. Little did the Orobiyi know that he was giving honour to a criminal. Gbolagade, through bribery and subterfuge plotted to get to the throne of his benefactor. His intentions were not noble. ONIDO: DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS

  ONIDO:   DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS Ido was founded by Agura, who was in the group that left Ile Ife with Oranmiyan to establish Old Oyo. On getting to the location in the forest, after consulting his Ifa priest he named the place Ido. Ido is today the headquarters of Ido Local Government. Ido is quite developed and still developing. Ido houses many government facilities and non-governmental development projects. New businesses, housing estates, medical facilities and schools dot the town. This has been made possible by contributions and sacrifices of past monarchs and royal families in Ido. When the Ibadan West District Council was established 5 th August 1961, with Ido as the headquarters the reigning Onido, Pa Yesufu Ladapo Orobiyi gave his farm land to the council freely. This selfless act   made it possible for the new council to settle down in Ido. The Local Government today stands on the Orobiyi Family land. Pa Lawani Dare O...
