ONIDO: THE MANY ATROCITIES OF MURITALA GBOLAGADE BABALOLA

ONIDO: THE MANY ATROCITIES OF MURITALA GBOLAGADE BABALOLA Muritala Gbolagade first came to Ido as a worker in the farm of a prominent Ibadan Chief located in Ido local government. He was fortunate to have made money while working for the Chief. How he made so much money from his employer is debatable and shrouded in mystery. After leaving the farm he showed interest in investing in Ido. He built a house in Ilaju where he resides till date. Always with an eye for investors to help develop Ido, the then Onido, Benjamin Ishola Orobiyi II gave Gbolagade a chieftaincy title of Ashipa of Ido. Little did the Orobiyi know that he was giving honour to a criminal. Gbolagade, through bribery and subterfuge plotted to get to the throne of his benefactor. His intentions were not noble. His plan was to use the position to enhance his various nefarious activities. Before he was suspended on 2 nd February 2024, he was noted for many criminal activities, chief among which were: ...

ONIDO: DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS

ONIDO:   DEVELOPMENT OF IDO, PAST AND PRESENT CONTRIBUTIONS Ido was founded by Agura, who was in the group that left Ile Ife with Oranmiyan to establish Old Oyo. On getting to the location in the forest, after consulting his Ifa priest he named the place Ido. Ido is today the headquarters of Ido Local Government. Ido is quite developed and still developing. Ido houses many government facilities and non-governmental development projects. New businesses, housing estates, medical facilities and schools dot the town. This has been made possible by contributions and sacrifices of past monarchs and royal families in Ido. When the Ibadan West District Council was established 5 th August 1961, with Ido as the headquarters the reigning Onido, Pa Yesufu Ladapo Orobiyi gave his farm land to the council freely. This selfless act   made it possible for the new council to settle down in Ido. The Local Government today stands on the Orobiyi Family land. Pa Lawani Dare O...

DEMO-SENSE WITH IDRIS ISMAIL : UNCAGING THE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS

DEMO-SENSE WITH IDRIS ISMAIL UNCAGING THE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS My desire for the young people is to have a mind of their own without being transactional and permanently tied to apron strings of leadership that want to use and dump. Our understanding of politics should graduate from blind loyalty to constructively loyalty. We should be committed to any political gladiator to the extent that such a gladiator is committed to the greater good of the state and her people. Therefore, the more of us a political gladiator should have in term of support and loyalty is corollary to the most contribution he or she makes to the development of human and infrastructure in the state. The young people should understand that their numbers and potentials count in any nation that desire development. It is enough to negotiate with this population of young vibrant and resourceful young people. It will rather be disgraceful to trade away the asset in you for crumbs in the hand of any political gladiator. It is t...

BUSARI OLAYEMI AND THE FIVE MILLION NAIRA BRIBE. Silence means guilt...EYV

Olayemi and the five million naira bribe: Silence means guilt. We received the above news with Shock and disbelieve. We felt the personalities indicted in the issue will come out and clear the air. We also chose to make our own findings by speaking with   some people in Ona Ara local government. They all confirmed the allegations made by the Concerned Ona Ara PDP Members. According to them Olayemi Busari and his co-travellers should respond if they have any defence. To date, none of the alleged “leaders” has deemed it fit to as much as say a single word. This to us looks like guilt. What bothers us most in this case is that a man who can collude to commit such a dastardly act in Ona Ara, another local government, want to take up the position of leadership in Egbeda Local Government. Egbeda Youth Vanguard feels ashamed that such a person comes from our own Local Government. We are therefore giving Hon Olayemi to live up to the title “Honorable” and come out ...

BEWARE OF BUSARI OLAYEMI……EYV WARNS MAKINDE

BEWARE OF BUSARI OLAYEMI……EYV WARNS MAKINDE Egbeda Youths Vanguard (EYV) is a coalition youth clubs and associations from all the wards of Egbeda Local Government. The group seized the opportunity to congratulate the governor of Oyo State His Excellency Governor Oluseyi Makinde on his electoral victory and Omi Titun 2.0. The EYV however cautioned the Governor to be wary of Honorable Busari Olayemi and other people who are in cahoots with him to hijack the benefits accruing to Egbeda for their own selfish ends. The group also noted that Honorable Olayemi has never contributed meaningfully to the electoral fortune of the party both now and in the past. Olayemi, they claim has always turned against all great leaders of Egbeda. Now he wants to be a leader by bribing greedy party leaders to the detriment of the teeming masses of our local government. Mr Layi Oyedeji, the Chairman of EYV, said the governor should be careful about entrusting the fortunes of Egbeda in the hands of Busar...
